Is it Halloween, the autumn ritual that celebrates the passing of lifes masquerade of fantastic and frightful forms into regeneration? Is this the end of some evil old ghoul’s fool rule over the north wood of foreclosed white houses?
Or is this what the ancients called Beltane, High Spring…
“When the light part of the day is longer than the dark part of the day. In our region, Earth continues to tilt us further toward the Sun, the source of divine pleasure, life and ecstasy. This is the time when sweet Desire for Life weds wild delight- it is met when the Promise of Spring- which you are, weds the Passions of Summer- fulfilment is nigh. The fruiting begins. It is the celebration of Allurement…Holy Lust…that which holds all things in form and allows the dance of life. The ancients called this archetypal, primordial essence “Aphrodite” in female Greek form, or “Kama” in male Hindu form.”
Who unites the cosmos.
You will the three-fold fates
(creation, sustaining, death/regeneration)
You bring forth all things.
Whatever is in the Heavens.
And in the much fruitful Earth
And in the deep Sea.’

We would like to introduce a new ritual for Yoga B.C.
Upon your walk to yoga, please find a beautiful flower, twig, leaf, feather or seed to place on the Aum Shanti altar at the front of the room. This is a gesture to honour the sacredness of yourself, your practice, and a prayer for peace. It won’t take long to establish this new habit and way of bringing something to your practice- keeping the flow of giving and receiving circulating in your life on all levels. Just place the flower or nature item at the beginning of class. As well if you wish to silently say a little meditative prayer for someone who might be going through a particularly challenging time.
