Retreats

This year...

Yoga BC Retreat at ancient Lake Tarawera, Rotorua, north island New Zealand,

March 16-20, 2010.

Join Grant, Waran and our Kiwi hostess Christine Karl lakeside at the Maori sacred site of Mount Tarawera for 5 days and 4 nights of blissful yoga, meditation and nature excursions in a land that the sacred remembers.

We'll take sanctuary at Christine's lakeside spiritual retreat 'Te Koru', staying at either the luxurious Pounamu Lodge or quaint and cute Kirky's Batch, all with breathtaking views across the lake to the mountain (see above).

Experience twice daily yoga and meditation from Deepak Chopra Center-certified teachers Grant and Waran at Te Koru, Pounamo Lodge deck, on the lake's jetty and in the lakeside orchard.

Explore your inner self with Christine's expertise training as senior faciliator of Brandon Bay's  'Journey-work'- a gentle exploration as to what blocks one's greatness and how to rekindle the spark of one's spirit and passions.

Marvel at the natural wonders with daily excursions including kayaking, bathing at the lake's hot spring-water beaches, encountering the fertile wilderness trails, visiting the buried village, a indigenous-Maori guided nature-survival walk and dining lakeside.

Included in the package are two vegetarian meals daily, all scheduled activities, and transfers to and from Rotorua. Choose between single or share accomodation at either luxurious Pounamu Lodge - 5 minutes walk from Te Koru and perched high upon the lake's edge - or Kirky's fishing Bach - a slightly more modest abode with gorgeous views of the lake and directly across the road from Te Koru. Accommodation limited to 10-12 participants.

Retreat cost (excluding flights) is at your choice of budget -

Pounamu Lodge - AUS$1100 share (twin or double) or AUS$1300 single

Air New Zealand flies direct to Rotorua from Sydney every Tuesday at 9.20am arriving Rotorua at 2.35pm and departs every Saturday at 3.35pm arriving in Sydney at 5.20pm from AU$450.00 return.

Alternatively you may wish to arrive earlier via Auckland and/or extend your stay either in the region or explore more that New Zealand has to offer. Extensions at Pounamu Lodge can be negotiated on a pro-rata basis.

Lake Tarawera is the largest (39 km²) of a series of lakes which surround the volcano Mount Tarawera in the North Island of New Zealand. It is located 18 kilometres to the east of Rotorua, and five kilometres to the west of the mountain, which erupted on June 10, 1886, burying the Māori village of Te Wairoa on the southwest shore of the lake. The lake is filled primarily by sources from the nearby Blue Lake (Tikitapu) and Green Lake (Rotokakahi). It is a popular camping and fishing destination in the summer but in March is peaceful and less-populated with water still warm enough to enjoy a dip. However it is important to bring clothes for all seasons.

Come and escape into the magnificence of Lake Tarawera and dive into your deepest potential.
